WPI Women's Volleyball Goes 1-2 at Wentworth Quad

Boston, MA - The Engineers capped off a busy week of competition with a 1-2 performance at the Wentworth Invitational in Boston, MA.
In its first game of the tournament WPI dropped a five set battle to host Wentworth by scores of 28-30, 30-21, 24-30, 30-22, 15-11. Kate Woodman (Fairfield, MA) played a fantastic match as she registered 14 kills with just five errors in 67 attempts while adding nine digs. Becca Holmberg (Madison, CT) tallied five aces with eight kills and a team-high 16 digs while junior setter Nikki Croteau (Wilbraham, MA) handed out 37 assists.
In a 3-0 loss (30-25, 31-29, 24-30) to tournament champion Framingham State, Croteau added another 16 assists while junior outside hitter Kathryn Bomba (Chelmsford, MA) and Holmberg shared team-high honors with 12 digs apiece. Junior middle hitter Christina Grant (Mansfield, MA) chipped in with seven kills.
The Engineers finished the tournament on a strong note, cruising to a 3-0 victory (30-23, 30-26, 30-17) over Newbury College. Croteau was outstanding as she laced five aces while dishing out 34 assists to amass 87 over the entire weekend. Holmberg came away with 13 kills and Woodman led the team in digs with 23.
Volleyball is now 5-12 overall and 0-3 in conference play and will entertain Clark in a NEWMAC match on Tuesday beginning at 7pm.
