Worcester, MA --- Freshman Kristen Garza (Kingston, MA) notched a pair of first half goals to help WPI defeat visiting Wentworth 3-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Thursday evening.  WPI is now 2-1 on the young season while Wentworth falls to 0-2.

Garza got the Engineers onto the board in the 14th minute when she broke free after a long pass from Hillary Rotatari (Auburn, MA) and deposited the ball in the net.  Garza struck again in the 34th minute when she registered her third goal of the season following a pass off the foot of Julia Berg (Cambridge, MA).

Elizabeth Glasson (Worcester, MA) recorded seven saves en route to posting her first shutout of the season and third of her career.  Glasson was at her best when she stopped a flurry of four Leopards shots midway through the second half.  Wentworth goalkeeper Allison Wellman (Chelmsford, MA) was credited with six saves on the night, including three on breakaways.

WPI will hit the road for its first away contest of the season on Saturday at Salem State at 2pm.  Wentworth is also back in action on Saturday, hosting Regis in its CCC opener.  Kickoff is slated for noon.
