Worcester, MA --- Worcester State tallied runs in the first six innings while cruising to a 19-3 road victory over WPI in non-conference baseball action on Thursday afternoon.  With the result, the Lancers improve to 5-8 while WPI slips to 8-7.

Worcester State opened up the game early with three runs each in the first, second and fourth innings before exploding with five runs in the fifth to open up a 15-1 advantage. Nate Nelson (Worcester, MA) belted homers in the sixth and eighth innings en route to collecting a game-best four RBI.

Nick Dortona (Revere, MA) slammed a solo home run for the Lancers while Chris Gusha (Rutland, MA) and Nick Caparell (North Attleboro, MA) had exceptional games with three RBI each.  Catcher Chris Logan (Spencer, MA) had a full day despite registering just two official at-bats.  The senior parlayed three walks, a single and a fielder's choice into five runs scored.

WPI got two hits from Matt Moreau (Manchester, NH), including an RBI double.  Scott McNee (Falmouth, MA) added his team-best 21st RBI of the year with a sacrifice fly and Jameson Kokolis (Manchester, NH) chipped in with a run-producing double.

Pat Good (Hull, MA) picked up the win for the Lancers, going five solid innings to improve to 1-0.  He struck out three while allowing one hit and an unearned run.  Sophomore Alex Hansen (Burlington, CT) took the loss for WPI to drop to 0-2 on the season.

Both teams open their respective conference schedules with doubleheaders this weekend.  WPI travels down Park Ave to face Clark at noon on Saturday before heading to Springfield the following day.  Worcester State faces Bridgewater State on Saturday.
