Babson Park, MA --- WPI junior outfielder Scott McNee (Falmouth, MA) has been tabbed as this year's NEWMAC Player of the Year while classmate Conor Fahey (Cumberland, RI) was named to the All-conference second team in voting by conference baseball coaches as announced by league publicist Greg McKeever.

For WPI, it marks the first time in the 10-year history of the conference that an Engineer player been honored as Player of the Year and the first time that McNee has been named to the first team.

This season McNee batted a .386 with nine home runs, 12 doubles, 48 runs batted in and five stolen bases. A two-time conference Player of the Week selection, McNee currently leads the NEWMAC in homers, RBI, total bases (85) and slugging percentage (.746) while placing fourth in batting average.  He also leads the Crimson and Gray in base hits (44) and on-base percentage (.489).

2008 marks the third time Fahey has earned All-NEWMAC accolades.  A year ago he was first team while he took home Rookie of the Year and second team honors in 2006.

This past season Fahey compiled an 8-2 record to go along with a 4.06 earned run average while he anchored the WPI rotation with a conference-best 68.2 innings pitched. He tallied 51 strikeouts while only allowing 20 walks. Fahey finished the season first in the NEWMAC in wins, strikeouts looking (23), and pickoffs (6) while his strikeouts were second-best and his ERA was tenth in the league.

The Engineers finished their season with a 16-17-1 record and 5-7 in the ultra competitive NEWMAC. The Crimson and Gray were recently eliminated from the conference tournament by second-seeded and eventual champion Wheaton and top seed Babson.
