McNee Inks Temporary Contract with Falmouth of Cape Cod League

Worcester, MA --- WPI junior outfielder Scott McNee has signed a temporary contract with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Code Baseball League.  McNee was one of 75 players to try out in Wareham on May 31st for the historic summer league, which showcases some of the best collegiate and amateur baseball talent in the country.   

McNee, who hails from Falmouth, MA, becomes the first Engineer under third-year head coach Mike Callahan to earn a roster spot for the Cape Cod League. Last month, McNee was named to the second team of this year's All-New England Division III team. McNee was also the first Boyton Hiller to be selected as the NEWMAC Player of the Year in the 10-year history of the conference.

This season McNee batted .386 with nine home runs, 12 doubles, 48 runs batted in and five stolen bases. A two-time conference Player of the Week selection, McNee finished the season leading the NEMWAC in homers, RBIs, slugging percentage (.746) while placing third in batting average and total bases (85). He led the Crimson and Gray in base hits and on-base percentage (.489).

This summer junior righthander Conor Fahey (Cumberland, RI) will also begin his second season with the Lowell All-Americans of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). In his first year, Fahey went 5-2 with a 3.81 earned run average in 51 1/3 innings pitched to go along with 47 strikeouts and just 10 walks.

Under the guidance of Callahan, the Engineers finished their season with a 16-17-1 record and 5-7 in the NEWMAC. The Boynton Hillers were eliminated in the conference tournament by second-seeded and eventual champion Wheaton and top-seed Babson.

The Cape-Cod League, a ten-team amateur baseball league with its members making up a two-division league. The Bourne Braves, Cotuit Kettleers, Falmouth Commodores, Hyannis Mets and Wareham Gatemen make up the Western division while the Brewster Whitecaps, Chatham Athletics, Harwich Mariners, Orleans Cardinalsk and Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox make up the East. Its regular season runs from the June 13 through August 7.
