Galligan and Fahey Harvest NEWMAC Player of the Week Awards

Paul Galligan
Babson Park, MA --- Junior shortstop Paul Galligan (Weymouth, MA) and senior pitcher Conor Fahey (Cumberland, RI) took home NEWMAC Player of the Week awards for the first week of the 2009 baseball season on Monday.
Galligan registered a pair of two-for-three performances at the
plate in WPI’s season opening split with St. Joseph’s
(Maine) on Sunday. In game one, his two-out RBI double in the
bottom of the sixth helped tie the game which WPI went on to win in
extra innings. His strong performance continued in the nightcap, as
the junior shortstop added another RBI double to go along with
three runs scored.
Fahey, a three-time NEWMAC All-Conference selection, began his
senior season in grand fashion notching a career-high 13 strikeouts
against only one walk in WPI’s 3-2 win over St.
Joseph’s (Maine) on Sunday. The senior scattered four hits
and two runs over eight innings as the Engineers scored the game
winning run in the ninth against the Monks, a 2008 NCAA Tournament
participant. Fahey reached double-digit strikeouts for the seventh
time in his career.
