McLaughlin has also coached extensively in the Worcester area. He has spent seven years as a coach at Uxbridge High School, four as head coach. His Spartans had a 49-36 record while he was at the helm, making the district tournament three out of his four years after not making it for over a decade.

In addition to being a coach, McLaughlin has been teaching for the last 11 years, and currently serves as a fifth-grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in Northbridge, MA. McLaughlin currently resides in Auburn with his wife and two children.
