Sides Honored by Liberty League and ECAC

Andrew Sides
Worcester, MA --- WPI senior defensive back Andrew Sides (Acton, MA) has been selected Liberty League Football Co-Defensive Performer of the Week. Sides shares the honor with Rensselaer defensive back Joe Albano (Dalton, MA).
The senior also distinguished himself by earning ECAC Northwest Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Sides amassed 10 tackles to help lead WPI to a 21-14 victory over Rochester. The senior also registered a sack (for 5 yards), an additional tackle for loss (for 2 yards) and a pair of pass breakups. Sides anchored a defense that limited Rochester to 227 yards of total offense and just 2 of 12 third down conversions.
Prior to this season, Sides was named a preseason All-American by D3football.com, the first WPI player to earn such a honor in the 10-year history of the site. The Engineers are currently 6-1 on the season and 3-1 in Liberty League play. They travel to Hobart for a match-up Saturday of two teams that both trail league-leading Rensselaer by just one game.
