Centerville, MA --- Defensive back John Perron (Worcester, MA) grabbed perhaps the last WPI football honor to be announced this offseason when he was selected to the ECAC Division III North Region All-Star football team. The senior was named to the second team that featured players from conferences based out of New England and New York.

Perron led all Liberty League players with six interceptions. He also added five pass breakups and recovered a pair of fumbles and blocked two kicks. The safety registered 33 tackles on the season, including 26 solo stops.

Perron collected plenty of awards and accolades following the season. The co-captain was chosen first team All-Liberty League, first team Steve "Merc" Morris Worcester All-Star, as well as a New England Football Writers All-Star and a second team D3football.com all East selection.

WPI completed the 2011 season with a 2-7 record that included its second straight Transit Trophy win over Rensselaer for second year head coach Chris Robertson.
