Cambridge, MA --- WPI junior Sean McAllen (Prospect, CT) has been tabbed as this week's Division II/III recipient of the New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award presented by the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

McAllen, a graduate of Woodland High School, rushed for 160 yards on just 16 carries and accounted for four touchdowns (three on the ground) playing in only the first half of the Engineers' 45-0 shutout of Becker. It was the running back's 10th career 100-plus yard performance. The junior also recently moved into seventh place in the WPI record book with 2,319 rushing yards.

It is the program's second offensive pick and third overall under ninth-year head coach Chris Robertson. It is also the second NEWMAC selection of the season as Springfield quarterback Chad Shade (Pittsfield, MA) took home the hardware two weeks ago.

UConn quarterback David Pindell (Columbia, MD) is this week's Division I honoree.

The Gold Helmet Awards are presented each Wednesday afternoon at the weekly New England Football Writers Association Media Luncheons that take place at Harvard University's Dillon Field House. For the fourth straight year, the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation is the presenting sponsor for both the weekly and end-of-year Gold Helmet Awards presented to student-athletes from FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III institutions throughout New England.
