Five WPI Field Hockey Teammates Selected to the NEWMAC All-Academic Team

Babson Park, MA --- Five WPI student-athletes have been named to the 2007-08 NEWMAC Women's Field Hockey All-Academic Team. The Engineers tied for the most team members named to the team with Springfield, who won this year's NEWMAC tournament championship.

Kelly Johnson (Buxton, ME), Nicole Maglione (Charlton, MA), Lindsay Mullins (Ashburnham, MA), Katie Nehmer (Southwick, MA), and Mary Kate Toomey (Worcester, MA) were the players honored representing WPI. Maglione also garnered the award last season while Toomey and Nehmer have each been selected the last two seasons.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The NEWMAC consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
