Maglione Named to the ESPN The Magazine/Co-SIDA All-District I Second Team

Worcester, MA --- WPI junior Nicole Maglione has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA) Academic All-District I At-Large College Division second team.
A native of Charlton, MA, Maglione has posted a total cumulative GPA of 3.82 while majoring in Civil Engineering. Maglione competes as a forward on the field hockey team and as a centerfielder on the softball team.
At the awards banquet this past spring, Maglione was honored with the 2008 Poly Club Award, which is presented to the top female in the junior class. As a sophomore, Maglione received the Carolyn McCabe Award, annually given out to the sophomore female athlete who best exemplifies the high standards expressed in "The WPI Athlete."
During the field hockey season, Maglione led the Engineers with seven goals, eight assists for a total of 22 points in 17 games. In the spring, Maglione batted .284 in 34 contests to go along nine doubles, 22 runs and 17 runs batted in. Maglione belted a team-high five home runs while passing the career milestone of 100 hits.
Maglione recently completed her IQP at the Zoo's Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. She has also been named a Charles O. Thompson Scholar and is a member of Phi Sigma Sigma.
