Box Score

Worcester, MA --- Nicole Maglione (Charlton, MA), Jackie McDonough (Winchester, MA) and Danielle Antonellis (Duxbury, MA) all notched goals to help lift WPI to a 3-0 victory over visiting Mount Holyoke in NEWMAC field hockey action on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, the Engineers up their record to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play while Mount Holyoke dips to 6-4 and 2-2 in NEWMAC action.

Maglione got the Crimson and Gray on the board in the 12th minute when following a corner, she took a cross from Kelly Johnson (Buxton, ME) and buried a shot into the back of the net for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.  WPI added to the advantage just over seven minutes later when McDonough redirected a rocket off the stick of Paige Hanson (East Hartford, CT) for her second marker of the season.

WPI tacked on an insurance tally early in the second stanza when Antonellis blasted a shot from the top of the circle following a wild scramble in front of the net.  The goal was Antonellis' first official collegiate goal, as the freshman connected on the WPI's game-winning stroke last Saturday at Clark.

WPI goalkeeper Betsy Ray (Simsbury, CT) was credited with five shots en route to posting her fifth shutout of the season and sixth of her career.  Lyons netminder Allie Walsh (Ann Arbor, MI) made three stops on the day.

Mount Holyoke enjoyed an 11-7 edge in shots and 13-5 advantage in penalty corners including eight straight in the final 12 minutes of the contest.

Both teams return to action with NEWMAC contests on Tuesday afternoon.  WPI travels to Wellesley for a 4pm match-up with the Blue while Mount Holyoke hosts Springfield at 4:30pm.
