Worcester, MA --- NT Izuchi (Boston, MA) scored a career-best 16 points to highlight six WPI players in double figures as the Engineers defeated visiting Anna Maria 120-88 in non-conference men's basketball action on Thursday evening.  The 120 points establishes a new school record, surpassing the old mark of 119 set in win against MIT on February 24th, 1977.

WPI, who has now scored 100 or more points four times this season, is now 8-3 while Anna Maria falls to 5-6.

The Engineers used a 15-0 run late in the first half to transform a tight 37-32 contest into a 52-32 advantage just prior to halftime.  16 of the 17 players dressed dented the scoring column on the night for WPI, who received an eye-popping 66 points from its bench.

Joining Izuchi with 16 points was senior co-captain Antoine Coleman (Everett, MA), who connected on 7-of-8 shots from the field.  Jerome Kirkland (Boston, MA) added 15 points for WPI while Ben Parker (Waterbury, VT), Jim Marois (Worcester, MA) and Adam Lirette (Dover, NH) tallied 13, 11 and 10 points respectively.

Anna Maria also had six players reach double figures, led freshman Chris Pinsonault's  (Marlboro, MA) 12 points.  Junior DeLaHoz (Lawrence, MA), Ryan Brown (Worcester, MA), Quincy Nunnally (Westboro, MA) and James Daigneault (Worcester, MA) all collected 11 points while Derek Johnson (Worcester, MA) chipped in with 10.  DaLaHoz paced all players with four steals while Nunnally gobbled up a game-high seven boards.

Both teams resume play on Saturday.  WPI will play the middle contest of a three-game home stand when they host Curry at 2pm while Anna Maria takes on Wheelock beginning at 1pm.
