Jim Marois Selected as NEWMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

For the second time in his career, WPI senior forward
Jim Marois has been named NEWMAC men's basketball
player of the week after he helped WPI post a perfect 2-0 record as
the team's top scorer and rebounder last week.
Marois, a native of Worcester, Marois, a native of Worcester, keyed
a late 14-2 run with a trio of 3-pointers to help WPI knock off
previously undefeated Coast Guard 71-62. He led all scorers in the
game with a career-best 26 points and seven rebounds Later in the
week, Marois tallied 14 points and grabbed five rebounds in a
hard-fought 81-71 road win at Springfield. Over the two
games, the senior averaged 20 points and six
rebounds while dishing out four assists and connecting on 9-of-16
3-point attempts.
Marois has averaged 15.9 points and 5.2 points this season.
He currently ranks 10th in the NEWMAC in scoring and 13th in
rebounding.
With Marois's honor it marks the second time this season a men's
basketball player has been tabbed as a NEWMAC Player of the Week.
Teammate Antoine Coleman was selected earlier in
the season on December 3.
The 11-3 Crimson and Gray have a tough week ahead as they will be
facing fellow 2007 NCAA participant Trinity on Tuesday at 7pm and
city-rival Clark on Saturday at 4pm. Clark and WPI are curretnly
the only unbeaten teams in NEWMAC action after
the Cougars defeated Coast Guard and Babson this past week.
