Box Score

Led by Russ Martin's (East Longmeadow, MA) game-high 13 rebounds, Trinity used a 48-31 advantage on the glass to help defeat host WPI 83-74 in non-conference men's basketball action on Tuesday evening.  With the victory, the Bantams up their record to 11-3 while WPI, who saw its five-game winning streak snapped, slips to 11-4.

Robert Taylor (Boston, MA) and Patrick Hasiuk (Enfield, CT) combined for eight points to spark an 11-0 Trinity run midway through the first half to extend a two-point lead into a 13-point advantage with 6:13 to go before the break.  WPI crept to within six points on many occasions in the second half but the Bantams kept them at bay by draining 22-of-29 free throws.

Martin tallied nine offense rebounds en route to aiding Trinity to a 25-4 edge in second chance points.  He added 16 points while Paul Rowe (Brooklyn, NY) registered a game-best 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor.  Three other Bantams reached double figures in scoring including Taylor with 13 points and Brian Ford (Bronx, NY) and Hasiuk with 12 each.  Hasiuk had a solid all-around game, dishing out a game-high eight assists.

Jerome Kirkland (Boston, MA) paced the Engineers offensively with 17 points.  Senior Antoine Coleman (Everett, MA) notched his third double-double of the season and the 11th of his career, by tallying 15 points and pulling down a team-best 10 boards.  Jim Marois (Worcester, MA) aided the effort by scoring 12 points and handing out four assists.

The Crimson and Gray received a lift off the bench from Will Lyons (Wilbraham, MA), who collected eight points, including a pair of three pointers, and grabbed five rebounds.

WPI returns to NEWMAC conference action on Saturday when they host city rival Clark at 4pm.  Trinity opens up NESCAC conference play this weekend by hosting Bates on Friday (7:30pm) and Tufts on Saturday (3pm).
