Kirkland Headlines Three Men's Basketball Players Receiving NEWMAC Honors

Babson Park, MA --- Three WPI men's basketball players received postseason awards from the New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tuesday afternoon.

Men's basketball player Jerome Kirkland (Boston, MA) was honored as a member of the all-NEWMAC first team. Kirkland leads the Engineers in scoring, averaging 13.0 points per game in his senior season. He also leads WPI in steals and three-point shooting.

Sophomore forward Ben Etten (Hollis, NH) and senior point guard Adam Lirette (Dover, NH) were named to the all-NEWMAC second team. Etten averages 9.9 ppg and leads the Engineers in rebounding at 5.5 rebounds per game. Lirette averages 8.9 ppg and leads the team in assists at 3.4 per game.

Men's basketball, the NEWMAC regular season champion, has earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament, and will be hosting the first and second rounds this weekend. The Engineers (20-5) will take on Husson (16-11) in the NCAA first round this Friday at 6pm at Harrington Auditorium.
