Robinson, Nadeau, Perez and Carr Spark Men's Basketball to Victory

Worcester, MA --- Juniors Jeffrey Robinson (Granby, CT) and Kyle Nadeau (Webster, MA) combined for 33 first half points to propel WPI to a 93-61 triumph over visiting Wheaton in NEWMAC men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.  With the victory, WPI improves to 15-5 on the season and 4-4 in conference action.  Wheaton slips to 7-14 overall and 3-6 in NEWMAC play.      

Trailing 14-10 five minutes into the contest, the Engineers embarked upon a 33-7 run over the next 13 minutes to put the game out of reach.   The duo of Robinson and Nadeau each connected on three 3-pointers during the first half helping the Engineers can 62.1% of their field goal attempts.  Robinson scored 21 of his game-best 26 points and Nadeau tallied 12 of his 13 points all before intermission.

WPI also received strong production from its frontcourt.  Sophomore Fernando Perez (Lowell, MA) tallied 14 of his 16 points in the second half while classmate Matt Carr (Somersworth, NH) collected his first career double-double.  The center netted 12 points and corralled a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with two blocks.  The pair helped the WPI reserves outscore its Wheaton counterparts 39-13.  

Anthony Coppola (Watertown, MA) led the Wheaton charge with 18 points.  Jaxon Leo (Leesburg, VA) drained 5-of-6 shots from the field for the Lyons en route to scoring 15 points while seven different Wheaton players dished out assists on the day.

As a team, WPI shot an impressive 60% from the floor, its second-best performance of the season.  Ben Etten (Hollis, NH) and Nadeau shared game-high honors with four assists while Robinson added three.      

Both teams play NEWMAC road contests on Wednesday.  WPI ventures to New London, CT to meet Coast Guard at 7pm in its final road game of the season while Wheaton heads to Babson for a 8pm matchup with the Beavers.
