April 8, 2013 Bartley Named 2013 Glenn Robinson National Coach of the Year Award Winner Atlanta, GA --- WPI men's basketball head coach Chris Bartley is the recipient of the 2013 Glenn Robinson National Coach of the Year award. Bartley received his honor Friday at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet in Atlanta as part of the Final Four weekend. The award is presented annually to the top division III men's basketball coach. Named after the longtime Franklin & Marshall coach, Robinson has over 800 wins and is currently twelfth on the all-time wins list. Learn more...

March 13, 2013 | 17 Winter Student-Athletes Earn NEWMAC All-Academic Honors Wellesley, MA --- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference announced its 2013 Academic All-Conference teams in late February. Between men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving, WPI had 17 student-athletes fit the bill. Academic All-Conference Honorees must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale after the 2012 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and participated as a member of the varsity team for the entire season. >>
March 4, 2013 | Updated Ticket Info for Men's Basketball's NCAA Game vs. Randolph-Macon at Assumption Worcester, MA --- The WPI men's basketball team will host Randolph-Macon (VA) Saturday in the second round of NCAA Division III Tournament. Tip-off at Assumption College’s Laska Gymnasium is scheduled for 7pm. The Engineers, ranked fourth in the final regular season D3hoops.com Top 25, advanced by defeating Purchase SUNY 80-67 in the first round last Saturday. On Tuesday, WPI announced details of a pre-sale of game tickets for Saturday’s game at Assumption. >>
March 2, 2013 | Balanced Attack Carries Men's Basketball In NCAA Tournament Opener Worcester, MA --- Marco Coppola drained nine of his 14 shots from the field for a game-best 23 points as he helped lead fourth-ranked WPI to an 80-67 triumph over visiting Purchase College SUNY in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament this evening. The Engineers (26-2) move on to play Randolph Macon in the second round as the Yellow Jackets defeated Stevens, 69-60, earlier in the day. The site and will be announced Sunday. >>
February 26, 2013 | Davis and Bartley Share Headlines as NEWMAC Announces Men's Basketball Awards Babson Park, MA --- Aaron Davis took home Rookie of the Year honors while Chris Bartley garnered Coach of the Year accolades as WPI earned two of the three major NEWMAC Men’s Basketball awards announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. February 25, 2013 | Men's Basketball to Host Purchase College, SUNY in First Round of NCAA Tournament Worcester, MA --- The WPI men's basketball team who is sixth in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25 and second in the latest NCAA Division III Northeast rankings will host Purchase College, SUNY in the first round of NCAA tournament action Saturday, March 2nd at 7pm in the Harrington Auditorium. The 25-2 Engineer squad will make its ninth overall appearance in the NCAA Championships and seventh in the past nine years under head coach Chris Bartley. >>
February 24, 2013 | Kolb Pushes Men's Basketball Past Springfield to Claim NEWMAC Tournament Crown Worcester, MA --- Tournament Most Outstanding Player Ryan Kolb erupted for a career-best 29 points to lead top seed and host WPI to a thrilling 79-72 overtime victory over third-seeded Springfield in the championship game of the 2013 NEWMAC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Engineers appear in line to host an NCAA Tournament game on Saturday, March 2nd and will find out its opponent on Monday at 12:30pm. >>
February 24, 2013 | Men's Basketball to Host Springfield Sunday at 1pm for NEWMAC Tournament Title Worcester, MA --- The NEWMAC Men's Basketball Tournament championship game between top-seed and host WPI and third-seeded Springfield is scheduled for 1pm today at Harrington Auditorium. Due to the current winter weather, all fans are strongly encouraged to park in new Park Avenue Garage. Spectators should proceed up the stairs to quad level to enter Harrington. Those needing handicapped access should use the ramp into the Sports and Recreation Center. >>
February 23, 2013 | Karalis' Heroics Send Men's Basketball to the NEWMAC Championship Game Worcester, MA --- Zach Karalis; rebound layup with 1.6 seconds to go lifted top seed and host WPI to a dramatic 66-64 victory over fifth-seeded Babson in a NEWMAC Men's Basketball Tournament semifinal on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers, ranked sixth in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 and second in the most recent NCAA Division III Northeast rankings, improve to 24-2 on the season and advance to Sunday's 1pm championship game against the winner of the second semifinal between MIT and Springfield. >>
February 23, 2013 | Late Rally Propels Springfield to NEWMAC Men's Basketball Tournament Final Worcester, MA --- Alex Berthiaume and Sean Martin (each accounted for eight points as third-seeded Springfield scored 16 of the final 18 points to stun second-seeded MIT 68-60 in a NEWMAC Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinal at WPI’s Harrington Auditorium on Saturday afternoon. Springfield, ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Division III Northeast regional rankings, improves to 19-7 and reaches its third NEWMAC final in the last five years. The Pride will meet top seed and host WPI at 1pm on Sunday. >>
February 19, 2013 | TELEGRAM FEATURE: National title Bartley’s goal from start Worcester, MA --- Chris Bartley was 33 years old in the summer of 2001 and pursuing his first collegiate head coaching position, and WPI wanted to know everything about its top candidate. So here came the inquiry for all interviewees: Where did Bartley see himself in 10 years? “I was like, honestly, I think we’re going to win a national championship,” Bartley recalled before a recent WPI practice. Naturally, his response drew a quizzical reaction. WPI didn’t win one game the prior season. >>
