Men's Crew results from New England Championships

Worcester, MA --- Men's crew competed at the New England Championships on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday and for the first time under head coach Larry Noble, all five boats made the grand final. 

Versus several nationally and regionally ranked teams, the varsity eight of Connor McGrath (Troy, NY), Scott Gary (Lubbock, TX), Neil Lettenberger (Oakland, ME), Andrew Sandefer (New Orleans, LA), Nick Vitello (Tolland, CT), Paul Beckwith (Worcester, MA), Tobin McGee (Rye, NY), Berk Birand (Istanbul, Turkey) and coxswain Amanda Gagne (Fitchburg, MA) finished an impressive fifth in the grand final with their time of 6:21.976.  The boat received some quick thinking from Gagne, who averted major problems from a sliced steering cable.  She grabbed the wire and was able to straighten the rudder. 

The second varsity eight consisting of Joseph Sceviour (Canton, MA), Sebastien Cohn (Ordinda, CA), Arthur Gager (Kennebunk, ME), Max French (Harwinton, CT), Jeff Onderdonk (Colechester, CT), Roddy Taylor (Spring Valley, CA), Burak Derkunt (Istanbul, Turkey), Rob McNamee (Fort Fairfield, ME) and coxswain Bethany Bouchard (Nashua, NH) grabbed a fourth place finish in the grand final (6:30.208) while the third varsity eight of Donald Havener (Turner, ME), Roddy Taylor (Spring Valley, CA), Garrett Cavanaugh (Townsend, MA), Evan May (Marshfield, MA), Matt Silva (North Grafton, MA), Matthew Henry (Southwick, MA), Daniel Lampke (Nashua, NH), Andrew Emerson (York, ME) and coxswain Brenna Colleary (Southboro, MA) also placed fourth with their time of 6:44.562. 

On Saturday, crew competed at the New England Fours Championships.  The novice four of Gager, Cohn, Onderdunk, McNamee and coxswain Colleary put together a strong performance to finish second (7:06.503) while the second novice four of Timoth Jalbert (Lewiston, MA), Tom Parenteau (Scarborough, ME), Timothy Navien (Haverhill, MA), Steve Buchholz (Pembroke, MA) and coxswain Eileen Gribouski (Sutton, MA) corralled a third place finish with their time of 7:19.84. 

Men's crew will compete at the ECAC Invitational beginning on May 12th in Owego, NY.
