Men's Crew's Varsity Eight Brings Home the Baker Cup

Worcester, MA --- Men's Crew's Varsity Eight turned in one of its strongest performances of the season to race to an impressive first place finish today to defeat RIT, RPI and Tufts and take home the Baker Cup.
The varsity eight combination of Connor McGrath (Troy, NY), Scott Gary (Lubbock, TX), Neil Lettenberger (Oakland, ME), Henry Moore (Jaffrey, NH), Arthur Gager (Kennebunk, ME), Sebastien Cohn (Orinda, CA), Tobin McGee (Rye, NY), Andrew Sandefer (New Orleans, LA) and coxswain Bethany Bouchard (Nashua, NH) took the lead off the start and never looked back to post a final time of 5:58.
The second eight of Drew Oprea (Hicksville, NY), Berk Birand (Istanbul, Turkey), Jeffrey Onderdonk (Colechester, CT), Nick Vitello (Tolland, CT), Ben Johnson (Northford, CT), Max French (Harwinton, CT), Don Havener (Turner, ME), Burak Derkunt (Istanbul, Turkey) and Brenna Colleary (Southboro, MA) grabbed a first place finish of their own, crossing the finish line in 6:15.
Capping off the day was the third eight of Garret Cavanaugh (Townsend, MA), Tom Parenteau (Scarborough, ME), Evan May (Marshfield, MA), Matt Kielbasa (Ludlow, MA), Elan Pelletier (Georgetown, MA), Andrew Emerson (York, ME), Drew Domnarski (Pawcatuck, CT), Philip Kellermeier (Berlin, Germany) and Nina Bass (Trumbull, CT) who combined to finish in 6:38.02 and earn WPI a second place finish.
Two varsity four boats also competed, however, at press time results are unavailable.
Men's Crew returns to the water on Sunday when they host UMass, Boston College and UConn beginning at 8am.
