Men's Crew Topples UMass and Boston College

Worcester, MA --- Men's Crew had an outstanding day on the water today, winning three races versus UMass and Boston College.
The varsity eight of Connor McGrath (Troy, NY), Scott Gary (Lubbock, TX), Hank Moore (Jaffrey, NH), Ben Johnson (Northford, CT), Arthur Gager (Kennebunk, ME), Sebastien Cohn (Orinda, CA), Tobin McGee (Rye, NY), Andrew Sandefer (New Orleans, LA) and coxswain Bethany Bouchard (Nashua, NH) rowed a strong race to edge Boston College by less than two seconds (5:55.2) and take home a victory.
WPI's Second Varsity Eight combination of Jeff Onderdonk (Colechester, CT), Nick Vitello (Tolland, CT), Don Havener (Turner, ME), Ricky Holak (Windham, NH), John Madura (Hewitt, NJ), Zack Theoharidis (Sedgwick, ME), Mike Mourkas (Hampden, ME), Max French (Harwinton, CT) and cox Brenna Colleary (Southboro, MA) also took home a victory with their 6:14.6 finish.
Corey Stevens (Douglas, MA), Josh Wimble (Albans, VT), Andrew Emerson (York, ME), James MacDonald (Worcester, MA), Alex Becker (Webster, MA), Philip Kellermeier (Berlin, Germany), Adam Panzica (Freeport, ME), Dan Pierson (Hampton, NH) and cox Jillian Kloc (Elma, NY) of the Third Varsity Eight crossed the line in 6:25.59 to place third.
The Novice Four (Chris Carrigan (Northboro, MA), Max Benko (Holmes, NY), Corey Rutledge (Saugus, MA), Justin Bales (Upland, CA) and Lauren Moloney (Buffalo, NY)) continued a string of solid performances, besting BC by 25 seconds (6:59.9) to finish on top.
Closing out the day for the Engineers were the Varsity Four of Jack Sternal (Westfield, NJ), Frank Pallien (Oakland, NJ), Doug Griesbach (Pocono Pines, PA), Rafeal Gil-Figueroa (Vienna, VA) and cox Nina Bass (Trumbull, CT) who were fourth (7:22.78) in their race.
Men's Crew will return on Saturday, May 2nd when they compete at the New England Championships. The first race is set to begin at 8am.
