Men's Crew Varsity Eight Takes First at Quinsigamond Head

Worcester, MA --- The WPI's men's crew varsity eight of Hank Moore (Jaffrey, NH), Ben Johnson (Northford, CT), Arthur Gager (Kennebunk, ME), Sebastian Cohn (Orinda, CA), Jeff Onderdonk (Colchester, CT), Ricky Holak (Windham, NH), John Madura (Hewitt, NJ), Tobin McGee (Rye, NY) and Brenna Colleary (Southboro, MA) rowed to a first place finish (14:07) at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Saturday afternoon.
WPI's varisty eight took top honors by 17.5 seconds over second place Holy Cross. Third place Bates was another 18 seconds back. The Engineers' varsity eight led many strong performances at the regatta for WPI. The Engineers' second varsity eight wasn't far behind, as the boat comprised of Corey Stevens (Douglas, MA), Andrew Emerson (York, ME), Zachary Theoharidis (Sedgwick, ME), Dan Pierson (Hampton, NH), Adam Panzica (Freeport, ME), Justin Bales (Upland, CA), Michael Mourkas (Hampden, ME), Alex Becker (Webster, MA) and coxswain Lauren Moloney (Buffalo, NY) crossed the line in fifth place in 15:04.
The Crimson and Gray's varsity four of Chris Carrigan (Northboro, MA), Phillip Kellermeier (Berlin, Germany), Jack Sternal (Westfield, NJ), Josh Wimble (Albans, VT), and coxswain Jillian Kloc (Elma, NY) also had a good showing, finishing fifth in its race in 17:08.
Men's Crew will compete at the famed Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston next weekend, October 17th and 18th.
