May 12, 2013 Varsity Eight Wins Petite Finals for Men's Rowing at ECAC National Invitational Worcester, MA --- In its final competition of the season, the WPI men’s varsity had eight arguably its finest performance of the day on Sunday at the ECAC National Rowing Invitational on Lake Quinsigamond. The Engineers captured the petite finals while seeing the second and third varsity eights place fourth and third in their respective petite events. April 20, 2013 | Men's Rowing Squares Off Against Trinity, Ithaca, UNH and Colby Worcester, MA --- WPI Men's Rowing saw is varsity eight place third and two other boats finish second Saturday morning on racing on Lake Quinsiagmond. The varsity eight posted a time of 6:09.9 to finish behind Trinity and Ithaca but ahead of UNH and Colby. The second and third varsity eight outraced Ithaca for second place in both races behind Trinity. Sunday will be a busy day on the Lake. April 19, 2013 | WPI Athletics Announces Schedule Changes for this Weekend Worcester, MA --- Due to the on-going situation in and around the Boston-area, the NEWMAC Rowing championships, scheduled for Saturday, April 20, has been postponed. The championship will now be held on Sunday, April 21 on Lake Quinsigamond. The regatta will begin at 10:40am. WPI Men’s Rowing will host its men’s and women’s regatta on Saturday as scheduled and will also be racing on Sunday as originally planned. For Baseball and Softball >>
April 14, 2013 | Men's Rowing Hosts Tightly Competitive Regatta with Bates and URI Worcester, MA --- The WPI men’s rowing hosted a closely competitive three-team regatta with Bates and the University of Rhode Island Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond. The largest margin between first and third place in the three races was just 11.4 seconds. The varsity eight was third in the tightest race of the day. Their time of 6:10.25 was less than two seconds behind the winner Bates (6:08.30) and just 0.51 seconds slower than second place URI (6:09.74). >>
April 13, 2013 | Men's Rowing Competes in the Donahue Cup on Lake Quisigamond Worcester, MA --- WPI men’s rowing participated Saturday in the Donahue Cup on Saturday, competing against Williams, MIT, Franklin & Marshall and Connecticut College and on Lake Quisigamond. The varsity eight of made up of John Morrisey, Alex Barat, Norman Harris, Will Ramos, Gary Jackson, Nick Cebry, Kendell Cotton, Frederick Hunter and coxswain Renee Lanza turned in a time of 6:17.82 to finish behind Williams and MIT but ahead of Franklin & Marshall. >>
April 6, 2013 | Men's Rowing Notches Three Second Place Finishes in Class of 2013 Cup Worcester, MA --- The WPI men’s rowing program made its 2013 spring debut with a trio of second place showings Saturday at the Class of 2003 Cup on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday morning. In the 10th running of the Class of 2003 Cup, the varsity eight of John Morrisey, Alex Barat, Norman Harris, Will Ramos, Gary Jackson, Nick Cebry, Kendell Cotton, Frederick Hunter and coxswain Renee Lanza was just two seconds behind Wesleyan (6:13 to 6:15). >>
October 27, 2012 | Men's Crew Concludes Fall Season at Head of the Fish and Quinsigamond Novice Regattas Worcester, MA --- Saturday was a busy day for WPI men’s crew as the two tops boats participated in the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, NY while the novices hosted a regatta on Lake Quinsigamond. The varsity eight comprised of John Morrissey, Nick Cebry, Kendall Cotton, Alex Barat, Gary Jackson, Paul Kashmanian, Nick Van Sciver, Frederick Hunter and coxswain Renee Lanza rowed to an eighth place finish in a time of 11:18.99. >>
October 21, 2012 | Men's Crew Strong at the Head of the Charles Regatta Cambridge, MA --- WPI men’s crew participated this weekend in the 48th annual Head of the Charles Regatta. The Crimson and Gray had a boat participate each day as the varsity eight was 21st in the collegiate eight on Sunday and the collegiate four was 26th on Saturday. The varsity eight John Morrissey, Nick Cebry, Kendall Cotton, Alex Barat, Gary Jackson, Paul Kashmanian, Nick Van Sciver, Frederick Hunter and coxswain Renee Lanza clocked a 16:46.805, just seconds out of a top 20 finish. >>
October 13, 2012 | Men's Crew Sees Varsity Eight Finish Sixth at Quinsigamond Snake Regatta Worcester, MA --- WPI men’s crew hosted the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Saturday. The Engineers saw its varsity eight Gary Jackson, Nick Cebry, John Morrissey, Alex Barat, Norman Harris, Burak Birand, Kendall Cotton, Paul Kashmanian and coxswain Renee Lanza placed sixth out of 27 teams in a time of 14:17.377. WPI is back in action next Saturday at the historical Head of the Charles Regatta. >>
September 30, 2012 | Men's Crew Begins 2012 Fall Season at Textile River Regatta Lowell, MA --- The WPI Men's Crew team started its 2012-2013 campaign at the Textile River Regatta in Lowell on Sunday. The Engineers had 10 boats on the water and posted eight top 10 finishes on day. In the open eight, the A entry of Kendall Cotton, Alex Barat, John Morrissey, Paul Kashmanian, Gary Jackson, Frederick Hunter, Norman Harris, Nick Van Sciver and coxswain Renee Lanza was fifth in a time of 19:29.392. >>
July 2, 2012 | Men’s Crew’s Madura to Represent U.S. in Under 23 World Rowing Championships Worcester, MA --- Recent WPI graduate John Madura earned a spot on the 2012 United States Under 23 National Rowing Team and will compete in the 2012 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 11-15 in Trakai, Lithuania. Classmate Ricky Holak nearly made the team as well, earning a spot in the finals but finishing a close fourth while representing the Small Boat Training Center in Craftsbury, VT. This marks the third straight year a WPI student-athlete will compete at U23 Worlds >>
