Men's Crew Closes Out 2011-12 Campaign with Strong Showing at ECACs
Worcester, MA --- WPI Men’s Crew wrapped up its 2011-2012 season with a strong performance at the ECAC Invitational on Lake Quinsigamond on Friday. The varsity eight finished second in petite final while three other boats reached their respective grand finals with the third varsity eight earning a silver medal. The varsity eight was nipped in the petite final by less than five hundredths (6:06.046) by Boston College (6:05.997).

Men's Crew Enjoys a Double Cup Sunday
Worcester, MA --- WPI Crew beat the rain and its opponents on Sunday morning, winning a pair of Cups in morning races on Lake Quinsigamond. The Engineers had the winning boat in all three races contests including the varsity eight winning the Baker Cup over Tufts for the seventh straight year and the Class of 2009 Cup against RIT for the fourth consecutive season. WPI is back in action on Saturday, hosting Division I programs Massachusetts, Boston College and Fordham on Lake Quinsigamond.

Men's Crew Competes Saturday on Lake Quinsigamond
Worcester, MA --- The WPI Men’s Crew program hosted Trinity, Colby, Ithaca, Trinity, UNH and Washington College, Saturday morning Lake Quinsigamond. The varsity eight comprised of Kendell Cotton, Frederick Hunter, John Madura, Ricky Holak, Michael Mourkas, Alex Barat, Adam Panzica, Jim MacDonald and coswain Lauren Moloney was fifth overall, clocking a time of 6:51.40. WPI is right back at it on Sunday, entertaining Tufts (Baker Cup), RIT (Class of 2009 Cup), Washington College and Skidmore on Lake Quinsigamond.

Men's Crew Posts Six First and Second Places Finishes in Donahue Cup
Worcester, MA --- The WPI Men’s Crew team competed Saturday in the Donahue Cup. The Crimson and Gray had a strong showing on Lake Quinsigamond as all six of their entries registered first or second place finishes. The varsity eight boat of Thomas Hunter, Frederick Hunter, John Madura, Ricky Holak, Michael Mourkas, Alex Barat, Adam Panzica, Jim MacDonald and coswain Lauren Moloney turned in a second place time of 6:12.8 behind cup champion Williams but ahead of Franklin & Marshall.

Cup Crazy! - Men's Crew Sees Varsity Eight Reclaim Class of 2003 Cup
Worcester, MA --- After a year’s absence, WPI’s Men’s Crew Varsity Eight reclaimed the Class of 2003 Cup on Saturday morning at Lake Quinsigamond. The cup victory highlighted an outstanding day on the water for the Engineers as the hosts won four of the fifth events contested and placed second in the other race. The varsity eight bested Wesleyan by over five seconds (6:08.2) to capture the Class of 2003 Cup for the third time in four years.

TELEGRAM: Men's Crew Alum Moore Featured in Jennifer Toland's Campus Notes
Former WPI rower Hank Moore, who graduated last spring, will be in Goldie-Cambridge's second boat for this weekend's Reserve Boat Race against Oxford. “Hank has fought through injuries and worked incredibly hard to earn this seat,” WPI coach Larry Noble said, “and it is wonderful to see a WPI oarsman involved in such a prestigious event.”

WPI Weekly Athletics Update #27
Men's Crew Second Varsity Eight, Softball's Erin Flaherty and Women's Track and Field's Andrea Caprio have all been named WPI Athletes of the Week. Led by coxswain Renee Lanza the octet of Thomas Miller, Frederick Hunter, Nick Van Sciver, Dan Pierson, Michael Mourkas, Burak Birand, Adam Panzica and Paul Kashmanian rowed to a first place finish with a 6:44.6. Flaherty was an out shy of a perfect game and struck out eight of the first 20 batters on Friday. Caprio eclipsed the school record as she tossed the javelin 130-7.25 in her debut for the Engineers.

Men's Crew Kicks Off 2012 Spring Season in Impressive Fashion
Worcester, MA --- The WPI Men’s Crew program won three races Sunday and finished second in the other two as the Engineers began its spring competition schedule as it hosted Bates, URI and Rochester on Lake Quinsigamond. The varsity eight of John Madura, Jim MacDonald, Norman Harris, Ricky Holak, Gary Jackson , Zachary Theoharidis, Kendell Cotton, Alex Barat , and coxswain Laruen Moloney finished second in a time of 6:29.8. The Crimson and Gray edged third place URI by 0.9 seconds while placing over seven seconds behind a strong Bates boat.

Men's Crew Wraps Up Fall Season at Quinsigamond Novice Regatta
Worcester, MA --- The competitive portion of the fall season for men’s crew concluded Saturday with the Quinsigamond Novice Regatta. WPI saw boats finish fourth and tenth in the 14-team event. The A Boat of Zachary Stewart, Matt Deptula, Joseph Sperry, John Foody, Jordan Stanhope, Richard Malcolm, Chace Medeiros, Mikhail Morozov and coxswain Lucia Shumaker rowed to a fourth place finish with a time of 16:10.57, the best of any Division III program.

Men's Crew Performs Well at 2011 Head of the Charles
Cambridge, MA --- WPI men’s crew took part in the 2011 Head of the Charles Regatta this past weekend, giving a strong accounting of themselves against crews from throughout the country. In the men’s collegiate eight on Sunday, Kendall Cotton, Ricky Holak, John Madura, Zachary Theoharidis, Sam Johnston, Alex Barat, Jim MacDonald, Michael Mourkas and coxswain Lauren Moloney rowed to a 19th place finish in a field of 40 boats, coming in with a time of 4:03.035. The 19th place finish assures WPI a guaranteed spot in next year's event.

Pair of Boats Crack Top 10 for Men's Crew at Quinsigamond Snake
Worcester, MA --- WPI men’s crew was just one of three program to have multiple boats finish in the top 10 Saturday at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta. The Engineers turned in eighth and tenth place finished and joined Division I institutions Holy Cross and Boston with two or more boats among the top 10. The A Boat clocked a time of 13:23.841 placing eighth while the B Boat crossed the line in 13:39.427 to finish tenth. Men's Crew is back in action next weekend as the venerable Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge.
