WPI Draws Tie Against Gordon in 2OT
WPI 1, Gordon 1 (2OT)
Worcester, MA --- David McMullen (Silver Lake,
OH) scored off a feed from Garrett Nanni (New Hope, PA) with 26
minutes remaining in regulation to help visiting Gordon tie WPI 1-1
in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night. With the
result, WPI remains undefeated at 5-0-1, while Gordon is now 1-1-3
on the year.
WPI took the lead early in the contest when David
Zuniga (Cromwell, CT) netted his third goal of the season
on scramble in front of the Gordon net at 3:27. The Fighting Scots
nearly answered right back but a shot was cleared off the WPI goal
line by senior back Jeff Doyon (Storrs, CT).
Brian Catalano (Whitinsville, MA) made two saves
in goal for the Engineers. Brian Schilling
(Goffstown, NH) collected one save in the first half for Gordon
while Chris Tanga (Byram) stopped three shots in
the second half and the two ten-minute overtime periods.
WPI is off until Monday when they travel to Boston to face
Wentworth at 7pm. Gordon will entertain Nichols at 2:30pm on
Saturday in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up.
