WPI Men's Soccer Loses to Framingham in OT

Framingham, MA -- Sophomore forward Johnny
Goncalves (Framingham, MA) scored six minutes into the
first overtime period to lift the Framingham State College men's
soccer team to a 1-0 non-conference win over WPI at Maple Street
Field.
Neither team was able to gain an advantage thru regulation as much
of the game was played in the midfield area. The Rams were only
able to generate 10 shots in the game, while WPI could only must 7
shots. In overtime, the Rams forced play into their offensive zone
and Goncalves was able to score the game winner with assists going
to junior Karol Tegha (Lynn, MA) and sophomore
Steve Rosenthal (Stoneham, MA).
Framingham State goalie, Eddie Palomba, made 5
saves en route to his second straight shut out win, while
Steve Hoffer (South Glen Falls, NJ) made 4 stops
for the Engineers.
The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host Westfield State
at 4:00, while the Engineers host Clark at 2:30.
