WPI Men's Soccer loses to Framingham, 3-2

Worcester, MA --- Jason Silva, (Milford, MA)
Scott Faria, (Fall River, MA) and Johnny
Goncalves (Framingham, MA) all notched first half goals to
help Framingham State defeat host WPI 3-2 in non-conference men's
soccer action on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Rams improve
to 6-2-1 while the Engineers slip to 3-6.
Framingham State jumped out to a quick 3-0 advantage midway
through the first half with a trio of goals 13 minutes apart. Sean
Austin (Winchester, MA) tallied helpers on the first two goals and
forward Jim Colombo (Littleton, MA) picked up his
first assist of the season on the third.
WPI broke the shutout in the 85th minute when Ben
Gilde (Manchester, NH) made a perfect cross to an open
David Zuniga (Cromwell, CT) and scored again less
than a minute later on an unassisted shot by midfielder
Keeon Tabrizi (Harvard, MA).
Framingham State netminder Eddie Polomba (Saugus,
MA) turned aside five shots while his WPI counterpart Paul
Moan (Watertown, MA) made two saves on the evening.
Both teams play their next games at home on Saturday at 3pm. WPI
will continue NEWMAC play hosting Babson and Framingham State will
entertain MASCAC foe Mass. Maritime.
