Three WPI Men's Soccer Players Named to the NEWMAC All-Academic Team

Babson Park, MA --- Three WPI student-athletes have been selected to the 2007-08 NEWMAC Men's Soccer All-Academic Team. The Engineers had the fourth most athletes honored behind MIT (13), Springfield (6), and Babson (6).
Senior Brandon Finzel (Northport, NY), junior Ben Gilde (Manchester, NH), and sophomore Tyler Carroll (Andover, MA) represented WPI on the team. Gilde was selected to the All-Academic team last season for the Crimson and Gray and was also named All-NEWMAC in 2006 and 2007.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The NEWMAC consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
