New London, CT --- Senior David O'Brien (Seminole, FL) converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute and sophomore Nick Devine (Rocky Hill, NJ) added an insurance goal in the 74th minute as Coast Guard began New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play with a 2-0 win over WPI in the conference opener for both teams.

After a scoreless first half, O'Brien gave the Bears (5-2, 1-0) the only goal they would need with the penalty kick, just 2:28 into the second half. 

Senior Nate Wojcik (East Brookfield, MA) assisted on Devine's goal as the Bears snapped a two-game losing streak.

Junior Tim Olah (Glastonbury, CT) registered eight saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

Sophomore Paul Moan (Watertown, MA) made fives for the Engineers (2-3, 0-1).

WPI returns home Monday for a non-conference match-up with Rivier.  Kickoff is slated for 7pm.
