Evan Demers-Peel

WPI 1, Framingham State 0

Box Score

Framingham, MA --- Evan Demers-Peel (Norton, MA) scored the only goal of the match and Paul Moan (Watertown, MA) registered a career-high 14 saves as WPI defeated host Framingham State 1-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.  With the win, WPI evens its record at 5-5 while the Rams (8-2-1), lost for just the second time in 11 outings this fall.

Demers-Peel notched the only goal of the game in the 17th minute when he headed home a cross off the foot of Tommy Zajac (Merrimack, NH) for his second marker of the season.

Moan was outstanding in between the pipes for the Crimson and Gray.  He was at his best midway through the second half when he made a sprawling save on a rocket shot then stopped the subsequent rebound from point-blank range. The shutout marked the first in Moan's career.

Framingham State netminder Greg Halle (Beverly, MA) made seven stops for the Rams, who enjoyed a 23-14 advantage in shots and a 10-5 edge in corner kicks.

Both teams return to the field on Saturday with conference matches.  WPI will entertain cross-town rival Clark at 1:30pm in a NEWMAC contest while Framingham State ventures to Salem State for a 1pm showdown with the undefeated Vikings.
