WPI, who netted three of its four goals in the first-half, got the scoring started in the 10th minute with an unassisted goal by sophomore Paul Beatty (Halifax, MA) as he found his way through the Wheaton defense and fired a shot back across the frame and into the far post. Nemes netted the final two goals of the half, with a converted penalty kick in the 19th minute, which was followed by a free-kick header in 28th minute with help from Beatty. Sophomore Luke Reiniger (Rowley, MA) ended the scoring for the Engineers in the 67th minute with an assist from classmate Mark Calnan (Winchester, MA).
Senior Connor Hoeckele (Granby, CT) stopped four shots in the victory while Wheaton senior Erik Wisniewski (Salisbury, MA) came up with three saves. Sophomore Neil Fitzgerald (Wakefield, MA) and senior Louis Chavez (Porterville, CA) led Wheaton with two shots each.
The Crimson and Gray outshot the Lyons 16-9 while both teams were awarded six corner kicks.
