Five from Men's Soccer Earn NEWMAC All-Academic Honors
Babson Park, MA --- Senior Matt Rosen earned his third NEWMAC Academic All-Conference award on Wednesday, leading an Engineer contingent that boasted five student-athletes from the men’s soccer program, second in the conference behind MIT which had six. Junior Jason Hopkins earned his second Academic All-Conference honor. Junior Sean Galligan and sophomores Mike Morales and Jeff Wong were first time recipients of the award.

Men's Soccer's Late Rally Not Enough in NEWMAC Quarterfinal Tournament Loss to MIT
Worcester, MA --- Max Stein-Golenbock and Nick Diamantoni scored just 1:08 apart midway through the first to propel fifth-seeded MIT to a 2-1 victory over the host and fourth-seeded WPI in a NEWMAC Men’s Soccer Tournament quarterfinal contest on Thursday evening. MIT (9-7) advance to the semifinals to face top-seed and host Babson on Saturday, November 5th at 10:30am. WPI ends its season with a 9-8 record.

Men's Soccer NEWMAC Quarterfinal With MIT Postponed to Thursday
Worcester, MA --- WPI men’s soccer’s NEWMAC tournament quarterfinals matchup against MIT has been postponed until Thursday evening while the remnants of last weekend’s historic October snowfall are cleared from Alumni Field. The game is now scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd at 6pm.

Men's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale at Coast Guard
New London, CT --- Sophomore John Epperly scored his third goal of the season in the 57th minute breaking the scoreless tie that lasted better than ten minutes into the second half as Coast Guard beat WPI 2-1 in a NEWMAC men's soccer match on Saturday. The Engineers are 9-7 overall and 3-3 in the NEWMAC. The loss prevented WPI from tying for second place with Springfield and Wheaton. The Crimson and Gray will be the fourth seed in next week's NEWMAC Tournament and will host fifth-seeded MIT in a quarterfinal match-up Wednesday at 6pm.

Overtime Goal Does In Men's Soccer at Worcester State
Worcester, MA --- Sophomore Alex Wolfel (Unionville, CT) scored the game-winning goal in the 96th minute to lift Worcester State to a 1-0 overtime triumph over WPI in non-conference men’s soccer action this evening at Coughlin Field. With the win, the Lancers even out their record to 7-7-2 on the season while the Engineers fall to 9-6. The Engineers will travel to NEWMAC rival Coast Guard for a 1pm tilt on Saturday.

WPI Weekly Athletics Update #8
Field Hockey's Libbi Richardson and Men's Soccer's Eric Crevoiserat have been named WPI Athletes of the Week. Richardson's overtime goal stunned Wellesley in a key NEWMAC matchup with postseason implications. Crevoiserat had a hand in two of three goals as the Engineers blanked regionally-ranked Springfield.

Crevoiserat's Early Outburst Sends Men's Soccer Past Springfield 3-0
Worcester, MA --- Eric Crevoiserat notched a goal and an assist as WPI scored three first half goals to shutout regionally ranked Springfield 3-0 in an important NEWMAC men’s soccer contest on Saturday afternoon. Back Ryan Mocadlo got WPI an early lead when he headed home a Crevoiserat corner kick just 6:19 into the match. The goal was Mocadlo’s second of 2011. The Crimson and Gray added to their advantage in the 17th minutes when Crevoiserat registered his fourth goal of the season when he knocked in his own rebound.

Pair of Long Goals Dooms Men's Soccer Against Mass Maritime
Worcester, MA --- Massachusetts Maritime received goals by Adam Vieira and Adam Rabesa as the Buccaneers rallied to defeat host WPI 2-1 in a non-conference men’s soccer matchup played Wednesday evening at a rainy Alumni Field. Kyle Powers got the Engineers on the board early when he received a flick from Chris Ciampa following a corner kick and headed the ball in the net for his first goal of the season at 7:45.

Late Rally Falls Short as Men's Soccer Falls 2-1 to Wheaton
Worcester, MA --- Freshman Luke Finkelstein doled out a pair of assists to propel Wheaton to a 2-1 victory over host WPI in a key NEWMAC men’s soccer contest on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Lyons inch over the .500 mark at 7-6-2 overall while staying in contention for the conference regular season title with a 3-1 league record. WPI is now 8-4 on the season and 2-2 in NEWMAC play.

Men's Soccer Defeated 1-0 on the Road at Wentworth
Boston, MA --- Senior midfielder Dan Santacroce scored the game’s only goal and junior keeper John Longo made eight saves as the Wentworth men’s soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over WPI on Sweeney Field. Jeff Wong turned aside seven shot for the Engineers, who held a 22-21 shot advantage and a 7-3 corner kick advantage. WPI dropped its second straight to fall to 8-3 and host Wheaton next Saturday.

WPI Weekly Athletics Update #5
Men's Soccer's Jeff Wong and Women's Soccer's Kelly Ames have been named WPI Athletes of the Week. Wong posted a 1-0 shutout against Salve Regina and tallied seven saves in a 3-1 road loss to Babson. Ames planted a goal in the back of the net with 20 seconds remaining to lift the Engineers to a 1-0 win over visiting Wentworth.
