WPI Softball Beats Emmanuel 7-2 and Loses to St. Mary's (IN) 1-11

Fort Myers, FL --- Meghan Kelly (Burlington, MA) allowed just four hits in eight innings while adding three base hits to lead WPI to a 7-2 extra inning win over Emmanuel.  Later in the afternoon, the Engineers dropped a 9-1 decision to Saint Mary of the Woods (IN).

Kelly had a stellar game for the Engineers as she struck out eleven Emmanuel batters while yielding just two unearne runs.  Kristen Gervais (Millbury, MA) led the offensive attack for the Crimson and Gray, going 3-for-5 to knock in three runs. Her two-out, two-strike RBI double in the top of the seventh, tied the game at 1-1 and helped for extra inning.

In the extra frames, right fielder Amanda Matori (Haverhill, MA) highlighted the WPI attack with a three-run double and a run scored while Kelly Head (Dedham, MA) added a stolen base as WPI exploded for six runs. 

In game two of the twin bill, the Engineers registered just one hit in a 9-1 loss to Saint Mary of the Woods.  WPI's lone run came in the fourth inning when Gervais scored on a fielding error by the second baseman.  Briana Dougherty (Woburn, MA) broke up the Saint Mary no hitter with a single in the fourth inning.
