Fort Myers, FL --- WPI softball rebounded with two big wins on Tuesday, a nine inning, 9-4 triumph over St. Joseph's (ME) and a shortened 9-0 mercy rule win over Wisconsin Lutheran.

Down 3-0 to St. Joe's in the sixth inning, the Engineers came roaring back to score nine runs in four innings.  The nine run explosion was highlighted by Meg Foley's (Belchertown, MA) grand slam over the left field fence in the top of the ninth inning to take a commanding 9-4 lead.

The Crimson and Gray had forced extra innings when junior center fielder Nicole Maglione (Charlton, MA) smacked a two-out homer in the seven inning to tie the game.

Third baseman Nicole DeCampo (Stoneham, MA) was 3-for-5 while Foley registered an outstanding six RBI on two hits for the Crimson and Gray.  Briana Dougherty (Woburn, MA) and Kim Martilla (Kings Park, NY) each tallied two hits for WPI.

Freshman pitcher Lindsay Brown (Westfield, NJ) picked up her first collegiate win for the Engineers.  She endured all nine innings of work, allowing seven hits and no earned runs while striking out ten batters.

In the second game of the twin-bill, Foley and Martilla each collected two hits and a double to lead the Engineers to a 9-0 win over Wisconsin-Lutheran.  DeCampo and Sarah Migdal (Galway, NY) each laced doubles for WPI, who with the victory evened its record at 3-3.

Senior Heather Hassett (Oxford, MA) improved to 2-1 on the young season by tossing five innings, scattering just three hits while striking out five.

WPI Softball will continue its spring break schedule on Thursday when they take on St. Mary's (IN) at 9am before facing off against Rockford at 11am.
