Maglione, Richards & Foley Named Softball Academic All-NEWMAC

Babson Park, MA ---  The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2008 Softball Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday.  WPI placed three student-athletes on the team this year which ties the Crimson and Gray for the fourth most in the nine-team conference.  

Juniors Nicole Maglione (Charlton, MA), Jennifer Richards (Hampstead, NH) and sophomore Meg Foley (Belchertown, MA) were the WPI student-athletes honored for this year's academic achievement. 

The Engineers closed up the season with an overall record of 14-20 and a NEWMAC league record of 3-13.  

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season. 

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
