Hardy Wraps Up NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week Honors

Allie Hardy
Babson Park, MA --- WPI freshman pitcher Allie Hardy (Townsend, MA) was named the NEWMAC softball pitcher of the week for the week ending April 19. The award is Hardy's first conference honor of her career.
Hardy turned in an outstanding week for the Engineers, hurling three complete games and playing a huge part in keeping WPI in contention for a possible berth in the NEWMAC Tournament. Hardy went all five innings in an 11-1 win over Worcester State on Wednesday, scattering three hits and only allowing a run.
The freshman went the distance again on Friday, outdueling her Wheaton counterpart for a 1-0 shutout win. Hardy struck out 10 and didn't walk a batter vs. the Lyons. She then came back the next day and only allowed just one unearned run on three hits in a complete game win at Babson. Hardy recorded 14 of the 21 outs against the Beavers on groundballs.
The rookie was 3-0 last week with a microscopic 0.37 ERA overall and a 0.00 ERA in the two conference wins.
