Louisville, KY --- The WPI softball program garnered National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Team Status for the third consecutive year and a record-tying nine student-athletes earned NFCA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honors.

Bolstered by four perfect GPAs, the Engineers combined for a 3.322 average en route to the most recent accolade.

Ama Biney (Worcester, MA), Lindsay Gurska (Revere, MA), Caroline Medino (Pompton Lakes, NJ) and Hope Shevchuk (Burlington, CT) have been feted each of the past three year. Repeat selections include Katie Chagami (Waipahu, HI), Kristin Gallagher (Coventry, RI) and RiAnna May (Westminster, CO). Natalie Fabrizio (Hampstead, NH) and Caraline Wood (Averill Park, NY) were named for the first time.

Gurska and Shevchuk were previously honored as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans while Biney picked up her fourth career All-District nod. Shevchuk was also recognized as an Academic All-America in field hockey.

WPI appeared in all three regional rankings, won the NEWMAC regular season title for the second consecutive season, and wrapped up its 2017 campaign with a 29-13 record for fourth-year head coach Whitney Goldstein.
