      <title>Softball Shares NEWMAC High with Five All-Academic Team Members</title>

      <description>Babson Park, MA --- WPI placed six student-athletes on the NEWMAC Softball All-Academic team, tied with Springfield with the most selections. Senior Erin Beaulieu earned the honor for the third straight year while classmate Janelle MacLaughlin was selected for the second time, and classmate Christa Coscia was selected for the first time. Junior Juliana Fekete was selected for the second time in as many years and sophomore Katie Bumila achieved her first selection.</description>

      <title>LeGacy Announces Retirement from WPI Softball</title>

      <description>Worcester, MA ---  After 13 years with the WPI softball program including the last 6 years as head coach,  George LeGacy has announced his retirement.  LeGacy won 101 games for WPI, including his 100th just last month in the first game of a doubleheader sweep of Smith.  He guided the Crimson and Gray to two of their three highest win totals, including a school-best 24-16 mark in 2012.</description>

      <title>Softball's Postseason Hopes Dashed in Sweep by MIT</title>

      <description>Babson Park, MA --- The WPI softball team saw its season come to an end Wednesday after getting swept by MIT by scores of 2-1 and 8-2.  The two wins helped MIT clinch a berth in the NEWMAC Tournament and kept WPI, who needed to win twice themselves, from qualifying for its second straight championships. Senior Erin Beaulieu went 3-3 and Amanda Pierce knocked home WPI&#x2019;s lone run in the opener and Lauren DiFelice and Nicole McDonough combined for five of the Crimson and Gray&#x2019;s 10 hits and both RBI in the nightcap.</description>

      <title>Softball Cruises Past Smith on Senior Day as</title>

      <description>Worcester, MA --- Senior Christa Coscia (Lakeville, MA) delivered a three-hitter in the second game of a double header Friday afternoon as WPI swept Smith College 4-3 and 2-1 in NEWMAC action. WPI enjoyed senior day at Marois Field on the campus of Assumption as they improved to 11-21 and 5-9 in conference and provided head coach George LeGacy his 100th career victory in the opener. Smith drops to 8-21 overall and 0-14 in the NEWMAC.</description>

The championship will now be held on Sunday, April 21 on Lake Quinsigamond. The regatta will begin at 10:40am. WPI Men&#x2019;s Rowing will host its men&#x2019;s and women&#x2019;s regatta on Saturday as scheduled and will also be racing on Sunday as originally planned.       <title>Pitching and Clutch Hitting Helps Softball Sweep Fitchburg State</title>

      <description>Fitchburg, MA --- Pitchers Claire Doolin and Christa Coscia combined to allowed just two earned runs and Lauren DiFelice tallied three RBI as WPI swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Fitchburg State on Wednesday afternoon.  The Engineers took game one 1-0 before registered a 6-4 victory in the nightcap. The Engineers scored the only run of the opener when Nicole McDonough doubled to left center to open the bottom of the sixth inning and scored two batters later on a Jacquelyne DiTroia double to the right center gap.</description>

Sophomore Jessie Richardson reached the 100-hit plateau with her sixth inning single in the second game as the Bears improved to 16-11 (6-6 NEWMAC) on the season, while WPI fell to 7-21 (3-9 NEWMAC) with the losses.</description>

      <description>Waltham, MA --- Brandeis&#x2019;s Melissa Nolan recorded four hits on the day including a homer en route to two wins for the Judges in Saturday&#x2019;s double header.  Nolan had two RBI in the first game helping her team to a 3-2 win.  She pitched the second game and struck out six batters for a 4-1 finish.  Brandeis improves to 19-10 and extended their winning streak to eight on their home field.  WPI falls to 7-19.</description>

      <title>Rain Alters Weekend Baseball and Softball Schedules</title>

      <description>Worcester, MA --- Friday&#x2019;s rain has forced several changes to the WPI Baseball and Softball schedules.  Friday&#x2019;s softball doubleheader with Coast Guard has been postponed to Sunday beginning at noon. Saturday has seen changes with both sport&#x2019;s twinbills with Brandeis.  The start time of baseball has been shifted from noon to 2pm when the two teams will play two seven-inning games.  The softball games, originally scheduled to be played at Clark&#x2019;s O&#x2019;Brien Field, will now be played at Brandeis with WPI as the home team.  First pitch will remain at noon.</description>

WPI is now 7-17 on the year and 3-7 in NEWMAC play while the Blue slips to 17-8 overall and 6-3 in conference action. WPI trailed 2-1 headed to the bottom of the seventh and was down to its final out when Lauren DiFelice ripped a 1-1 pitch to left center to chase home Juliana Fekete, who had reached on a 10 pitch walk, with the tying run.</description>

In the opener, sophomore Katie Roy and senior Kylene Pease combined for a five-hitter in a 1-0 triumph before freshman Meghan Rich tossed her first career shutout in a nightcap 5-0 victory.   WPI pitchers Christa Coscia and Clair Doolin did not allow an earned run on the day for the guests while McDonough finished the day 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles and a walk.</description>

      <description>Worcester, MA --- Babson's Catie Funk and Caitie Benoit combined for nine hits and eight RBI while Kathleen Conway struck out 16 WPI batters in game one to help lead the Beavers to a sweep of the Engineers on Saturday afternoon in NEWMAC action.  The Beavers took the twin bill by scores of 5-1 and 11-3. Funk went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Conway pitched a complete game four-hitter with 16 strikeouts as Babson recorded a 5-1 victory over WPI in game one. Nicole McDonough led the WPI offense with two of her team's four hits.</description>
