Maglione, Richards & Foley Named Softball Academic All-NEWMAC
Babson Park, MA --- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference announced its 2008 Softball Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday. WPI placed three student-athletes on the team this year which ties the Crimson and Gray for the fourth most in the conference. Nicole Maglione, Jennifer Richards and Meg Foley were the WPI student-athletes honored for this year's academic achievement.

Softball Swept by Nationally-Ranked Wellesley
Wellesley, MA --- The Wellesley College softball team swept New NEWMAC rival WPI on Saturday afternoon. Wellesley took game one 8-0 in five innings and won game two 11-3 in six innings. The wins clinched the number-one seed for Wellesley in the upcoming NEWMAC playoffs. WPI ends the regular season with a 14-20 overall record and a 3-13 mark in NEWMAC play.

Softball's Bats Go Silent in 1-0 and 5-0 Losses to Smith
Worcester, MA --- Emily Hiltzik tossed 12 of Smith's 14 shutout innings to help the Pioneers sweep host WPI by scores of 1-0 and 5-0 in NEWMAC softball action on Friday afternoon. With the sweep, Smith (12-18, 5-9) moves into a tie with Coast Guard for the sixth and final spot for next week's NEWMAC Tournament. The Pioneers host Coast Guard in a doubleheader on Saturday.

Softball Receives Great Pitching in Sweep of Worcester State
Worcester, MA --- WPI pitchers Heather Hassett and Lindsay Brown limited visiting Worcester State to just two runs in a non-conference softball doubleheader as the Engineers swept the Lancers by scores of 5-1 and 3-1. With the sweep, WPI snaps a five-game losing streak and improves to 14-16. Worcester State slips to 7-16.
