WPI Loses First Dual Meet versus Coast Guard, 126-101

New London, CT --- WPI won seven of thirteen events versus defending NEWMAC Champion Coast Guard on Saturday but fell 126-101. Despite the loss, the Engineers swam an outstanding meet with several first place finishes.
Jeffrey Meyer (Denver, CO) set a new school record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.61) and won two other events and Joel Rousseau (Pittsfield, MA) won all three of his individual events to win seven of thirteen events versus defending NEWMAC Champion Coast Guard on Saturday.
Rousseau, swimming all three of his events within 50 minutes and took first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.93), 100-yard backstroke (57.60), and set a pool record in the 100-yard butterfly (51.97). Meyer took first in the 400-yard IM (4:16.35) against the defending conference champion and won the 500-yard freestyle with the third fastest time in school history (4:44.61) while Dan White (Sidney, ME) was victorious in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:35.51).
In diving, Eric Wallhagen (Carlisle, MA) had a great day as he took a first place finish in both one meter and three meter diving. Wallhagen racked up 160.05 points in one meter, and amassed another 162.95 in the three meter event.
WPI returns to action on December 8th when they host Norwich at 4:30pm.
