Worcester, MA --- Danielle Sorenson (Reno, NV) and Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH) swam to two first place finishes each to lead WPI to a commanding 154-65 win over Norwich on Friday. Sorenson took home first place in the 50-yard freestyle (26.99) and 50-yard backstroke (34.10) while Schiess took first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.85) and 100-yard butterfly (1:13.49).
There were several other top finishes on the day including Allison Elder (North Adams, MA) in the 1000-yard freestyle (13:00.20), Jodi Lowell (Ledyard, CT) in the 200-yard freestyle (2:22.60), Burcu Bora (Cyprus) in the 50-yard breaststroke (38.40), Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT) in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.47), Therese Comeau (Goffstown, NH) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.18), and Kelly Butler (Santa Fe, NM) in the 50-yard butterfly (36.53).
In diving, freshman Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) set a school record in one meter (11 dives) for the Engineers. She amassed 340.05 points to beat the old record of 317.85 in one meter set by Lindsday Bulso in the winter of 2006.
WPI returns to the pool at 10am Saturday when they host Keene State at Clark.
