Women's Swimming and Diving Finishes Third at the Worcester City Championships

Worcester, MA - The WPI Women's Swimming and Diving team turned in a third place finish at last weekend's Worcester City Championships held at Holy Cross.  The hosts placed first with 444 points, while Clark finished second with 352 points.

In diving events, Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) took second in both the one meter (219.52) and three meter (223.80) events while teammate Jessie Brasefield (Manchester, CT) placed third in one meter (184.65) and fourth in three meter (174.30).  Gurardino set the school record in both events and now holds all four diving records.

Katie Kelly (Garrison, NY) took third in the 200-yard IM (2:29.63) and 400-yard IM (5:29.23) before taking a fourth place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:26.24).  Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CO) and Jodi Lowell (Ledyard, CT) teamed up to take fourth (20:04.26) and fifth (20:16.79) in the 1650-yard freestyle while Lowell paired up once again with Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH) to place fourth (5:48.91) and fifth (5:54.25) in the 500-yard freestyle, respectively. 

Schiess went on to finish fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.97), Jenkins also took fifth in the 100-yard free (1:00.91) and Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) earned a fourth place finish in the 400-yard IM (5:32.92) before taking a fifth place spot in the 200-yard butterfly (2:46.40). 

Women's Swimming and Diving returns to action on Wednesday when they travel across town to Clark for a meet beginning at 6:30pm at the Kneller Athletic Center.
