Worcester, MA - Despite strong performances by several Engineer swimmers, the WPI Women's Swimming and Diving team dropped a close 127-106 meet to cross-town rival Clark on Wednesday.
Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT), Katie Kelly (Garrison, NY), Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH), Danielle Sorenson (Reno, NV), Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT), and Jessie Brasefield (Manchester, CT) all earned first place finishes for the Crimson and Gray. Jenkins finished on top in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:53.77), Kelly's win came in the 200-yard IM (2:29.61), Schiess was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle (5:49.98), while teammate Sorenson claimed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.91).
The diving duo of Guardino and Brasefield combined to place first and second in both one meter and three meter diving. Guardino took first in the one meter event (201.45) while Brasefield led the pack in three meter (196.75). Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.73) and 100-yard butterfly (1:09.88) while Jenkins and Kelly wrapped up their days with a second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.16) and 100-yard backstroke (1:07.09), respectively.
WPI returns to action on Saturday with an away meet at Trinity.
