Ruffing and Meyer Combine for Six Victories in Loss at Brandeis

Waltham, MA --- Men's swimming and diving dropped a 155-120 decision to Brandeis on Saturday. Despite the loss there were several bright spots for the Engineers.
Leading the WPI effort were Jeff Meyer (Denver, CO) and Mason Ruffing (Stone Mountain, CA) who picked up three victories apiece. Meyer won the 200 (1:47.40), 500 (4:49.45) and 1000-yard (10:15.65) freestyles while Ruffing picked up wins in the 100 (56.66) and 200-yard backstrokes (2:01.45) and 200-yard IM (2:03.10).
Freshman Lee Chiang (Lexington, MA) finished second in the 50-yard (23.21) and 100-yard freestyles (50.68) while David Keck (Orwigsburg, PA) took home second place in the 100-yard butterfly (56.19). Steve Rose (Worcester, MA) capped off the individual events for the Engineers with a second place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:15.39).
In relay action, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Chiang, Rose, Ruffing and Meyer swam to first place with their time of 3:22.28 while Dan White (Sidney, ME), Robert Medaglio (Andover, MA) Alford Green (Portmore, Jamaica) and Chase Johnson (Eastham, MA) combined to take second place (3:39.65).
Men's swimming is now 4-5 and will look to even up their record on Wednesday versus Clark at 6:30pm.
