Bryant Swims Past WPI Women's Swimming and Diving, 104-83

Smithfield, RI - Women’s swimming and diving kicked off their 2008 schedule on Saturday and fell to Bryant 104-83. With the loss the record of the Crimson and Gray now stands at 1-5.

O’Sullivan (Pelham, NH) and Amanda
Blom (Wilkes Barre, PA) all captured first place finishes
for the Engineers. Blom was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke
(1:19.57) while O’Sullivan won the 500-yard freestyle
(5:53.73). Schiess combined with Lauren Anderson
(Bedford, MA) and Therese Comeau (Goffstown, NH)
to place first (1:10.63), second (1:12.40) and third (1:18.56) in
the 100-yard backstroke.
Comeau and Vanessa Walton (Bow, NH) paired up to
finish second and third behind Blom to sweep the 100-yard
breaststroke event. Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT)
swam to second place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.00) and third
in the 200-yard free (2:11.28) while Chelsea
Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) finished third in the 100-yard
butterfly (1:12.18). O’Sullivan wrapped up her day with
second place in the 200-yard IM and senior Julie
Buffam (Westfield, MA) picked up second in the 500-yard
freestyle (6:50.73).
Women’s swimming and diving is now 1-5 and will look for a
win when they face off against UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday at 6pm.
