Women's Swimming and Diving Places Third at WCC

WPI Places Third at Worcester City Championships

Results

Worcester, MA - Women's swimming and diving registered 301 points to finish third at the two-day Worcester City Meet hosted by Holy Cross. 

Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) earned WPI's lone victory as she dove to a first place finish in the one meter event (206.84).  Guardino placed second in the three meter (220.12) while teammate Kristine Mischler (Cincinnati, OH) finished fifth in each event.  Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) swam to fourth place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.08) and fifth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:44.40) and Amanda Blom (Wilkes Barre, PA) took home third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:47.06) before finishing fourth in the 400-yard IM (5:40.16).

Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH) finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.29) and 500-yard freestyle (5:56.11) while Kelsey Thomas (Webster, NY) also finished fifth behind Blom in the 400-yard IM (5:49.38).  The team of Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT), Andrea Bisson (Plymouth, MA), Bierkan and Schiess combined their efforts to swim to third place in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:10.04) and fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.98). 

Up next, women's swimming and diving will travel to Brandeis on Saturday for a meet beginning at 3:30pm.
