Jenkins and Bierkan Capture Events for Women's Swimming

Waltham, MA --- Women's swimming and diving turned in a strong performance but fell to Brandeis 160-122 on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT) highlighted the meet for the Engineers as she swam to two victories. Jenkins took first place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.02) and 500-yard freestyle (5:44.42) before placing second in the 50-yard freestyle (27.85). Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) picked up a win in the 200-yard IM (2:37.43) and finished second in the 100-yard backstroke.
Amanda Blom (Wilkes Barre, PA) gathered up second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.31) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:46.69) while Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH) swam to second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:29.11). Diver Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) tallied 156.70 points to finish second in the one meter event.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Schiess, Guardino, Jenkins and Therese Comeau (Goffstown, NH) finished in 4:17.17 to win the event and Julie Kent (Brookfield, MA), Vanessa Walton (Bow, NH), Julie Buffam (Westfield, MA) and Andrea Bisson (Plymouth, MA) teamed up to take second (4:48.39) in the 400-yard medley relay.
Women's swimming is now 1-7 and will face off against Clark on Wednesday beginning at 6:30pm.
