Clark Knocks Off Women's Swimming and Diving 116-109

Worcester, MA --- Sophomore Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) won two events and senior Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) picked up a first place finish as WPI dropped a 116-109 decision to host Clark on Wednesday night.  With the result, the Engineers are now 1-8 on the season.

Guardino won both the 1 and 3-meter diving competitions to give the Crimson and Gray 18 points.  Meanwhile, Bierkan picked up a top place finish in the 100-yard butterfly event with a winning time of 1:10.40. 

The 200-yard relay team of Lauren Anderson (Bedford, MA), Amanda Blom (Wilkes Barre, PA), Kelsey Thomas (Webster, NY) and Guardino also struck gold, with a winning time of 2:06.02.  

Blom placed second in two more events, the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:36.03 and in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.34).  A pair of seniors also earned second place finishes in their respective events: Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.95) and Julie Buffman (Westfield, MA) the 500-yard freestyle (6:38.28).

WPI sophomore Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT) also helped out the team with a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:07.36. 

The team will compete in its final dual meet of the season on Saturday, February 9th at 1pm at Trinity.
