Women's Swimming and Diving Drops 170-118 Decision to Trinity

Hartford, CT --- Women's swimming and diving fell to Trinity College, 170-118, on Saturday afternoon in Hartford, Connecticut.  With the loss, WPI falls to 1-9 on the season.

Junior Karen O'Sullivan (Pelham, NH) led the WPI attack with three top finishes including wins in the 50-yard (34.09) and 100-yard (1:13.21) breaststrokes and the 200-yard IM (2:23.28).  Freshman Amanda Blom (Wilkes Barre, PA) finished in second behind O'Sullivan in the 200-yard IM (2:32.47) while Kelsey Thomas (Webster, NY) earned second place in the 50-yard butterfly (29.94). 

Sophomore Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) picked up two wins for the Engineers as she won the one meter (243.14) and three meter (258.00) diving events.  Fellow diver Kristine Mischler (Cincinnati, OH) took home second place in the three meter event with 157.35 points. 

Capping off the day were Thomas, Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT), Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH) and Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA) with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:06.88) while Blom, Julie Kent (Brookfield, MA), Jennifer Thompson (Oxford, MA) and Vanessa Walton (Bow, NH) combined to finish second with their time of 4:48.58. 

Women's swimming is now 1-9 and will return to the pool on February 22nd when they compete at the NEWMAC Championships at Wellesley.
