O'Sullivan Shines for Women's Swim at NEWMAC Championships

Wellesley, MA --- The WPI Women's Swimming and Diving team continued its participation at the three-day NEWMAC Championships at Wellesley, and through day two, the Engineers are in tenth place with 93 total points.

Junior Karen O'Sullivan (Pelham, NH) swam to a ninth place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with her time of 1:12.00.  O'Sullivan joined forces with Hallie Schiess (Wilmont, NH), Kelsey Thomas (Webster, NY) and Amanda Jenkins (Columbia, CT) to finish ninth (2:01.06) in the 200-yard medley relay while Chelsea Bierkan (Allison Park, PA), Lauren Anderson (Bedford, MA), Julie Buffam (Westfield, MA) and Vanessa Walton (Bow, NH) placed tenth in the 800-yard freestyle relay with their time of 9:21.73.

The competition wraps up today with the preliminaries of the 200-back, 100-free, 200-breast, 200-fly, 400-free relay and 1650-free.  The finals of the 3-meter diving event will begin at 1:30pm, while finals for the day's events will begin at 6:30pm.
